The historical exposition of Burbiškis Manor is established in the old manor owned by Baženskiai which was first mentioned in historical sources in the 17th century. The manorial park of a landscape type occupies the area of 28 hectares and is famous for its impressive ponds with 15 islands. The formation of the manorial buildings makes up a large enclosed yard, therefore reminding of a fortress. The guesthouse is being upholstered in the renovated guest-chamber of the palace and the historical exposition of the manor is established in the palace terrace. The park is abundant of the works made by the sculptor Kazimieras Ulianskas: a monument for the poet Adomas Mickevičius (built in 1911), a monument for the Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania (built in 1912), the sculpture of the Holy Virgin, the magnificent gateway of the park and the lions’ bridge. The park is fit up with lanes and the pond islands are connected by 12 bridges. The seed-plot of the park contains various plant collections. Currently, restoration works are taking place in the manor. THE FEAST OF TULIP FLOWERING IS CONSIDERED A TRADITIONAL FESTIVAL IN BURBIŠKIS MANOR. The ExpositionA pastoral museum is being founded in a beautiful valley of the Daugyvenė River which occupies the area of 18 hectares in an ancient rural district. The museum has the disposition of rural buildings characteristic of the 19th and the 20th century localities: barns, granaries, bathhouses, stack-yards, sheds, etc. Apart from the extant buildings, the former homesteads of Kleboniškės Village are being restored. They are spotlighted by different fences and hedges. Old trees of the rural district and thatches lend mystery to the museum, whereas its dwellers render it with verisimilitude. The expositions in the buildings reproduce the farmers’ everyday life in the end of the 19th century. An operational country bathhouse is installed. The exposition includes the collections of pitchers, saps, peels, flax combs, motors, a tractor made in 1926 and a locomobile (a steam-boiler) made in England in the end of the 19th century. A windmill built in 1884 is functioning in the village. The Homestead of Raudondvaris Manor (Šeduva)Raudondvaris, Šeduva Administrative Unit, Radviliškis District MunicipalityRaudondvaris is located near Šeduva, by the road leading from Šiauliai to Panevėžys. The rise of the settlement is associated with the manor, the history of which is concurrent with the history of Šeduva town. The manor of the Grand Duke of Lithuania existed in Šeduva for a long time and later was turned into a private holding. In 1792, Stanislovas Poniatovskis, the last governor of Šeduva Administrative Unit, concluded an agreement with Šeduva citizens, in accordance with which the citizens had to pay the fee of 3579 angels to the manor. In 1798, Šeduva manor and the land were bought by the baron Theodore fon Rop from Poniatovskis. He did not acknowledge the right of paying the fee by Šeduva citizens and required of the citizens to perform their corvee in the town manor. The citizens decided to stick up for their rights in court. The lawsuit was sent to the Russian Senate after long proceedings in Upytė Agrarian Court and in the General Court. In 1812, the Senate passed the decision to acknowledge the former charters of Šeduva. Having lost the lawsuit and objecting to the town’s neighbourhood, the baron T.Rop knocked down the former manorial buildings in Šeduva. |
